(Yes, it is Reptiles Show, not Reptile Show)

There were a lot of interesting turtles for sale and display at the show. Many were Asian species that I had only seen in pictures. Although I am a gecko breeder, I really enjoy turtles (although I don't keep any turtles or sell turtles).

The following pictures were all taken at the Japan Reptiles Show in Shizuoka, Japan on August 4. These turtles are not owned by me. Some of the turtles pictured below are CITES I or CITES II, and it is not legal to import these into the United States (or any country) without the proper CITES paperwork. I post these photos here because many of these are rare species that many people (including me) have only seen in books. I do not keep, sell, transport, or otherwise deal with any turtle species.

There were a lot of interesting animals at the show. Many were the same as what you would find at a US reptile show, but there were many exotic and rare species that are never for sale in the US.

The two at the show were very friendly .
Male Nephrurus amyae for sale . The one on the left was marked for $1225, but on sale for $875. I wish I could get that much for male amyae!

A Slow Loris - This was so cute!
This is a really interesting species. They are an ancient primate, and are one of the few venomous mammals. They produce a toxin from glands on their elbows, and they lick this venom from these glands and deliver it in their bite.
Steve holding the Slow Loris. This was a very tame one.
