2007 Geckos Etc. News:

12/21/07 - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Deb and I are getting ready for Christmas. No big plans this year, just a quiet Christmas at home for us this year.

I will start taking photos on new available geckos next week after Christmas. I should have the new geckos posted by January 1. I still have lots of really nice geckos to post for sale.

12/13/07 - Deb and I are back from our trip to Germany. We had a great time! After the Hamm show we had a 3 day mini vacation in Hamburg. It rained nearly everyday, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the sites of the city. The Christmas markets were in full swing, and you can find them all over. We ate lots of great bratwurst and drank lots of Gluhwein (a warm, spiced, Christmas-time wine found everywhere in Germany). It's always fun to experience other cultures and customs. We learned that you have to pay for a glass of regular water at a resturant, and that it is not uncommon for people to drive 200km/h (125 mph!) on the autobahn!

11/30/07 - I posted 22 new geckos to the available pages today including some really nice Super Hypo Tangerines (some of my best), female Bell Albinos, RAPTOR hets, an APTOR, and an APTOR het. These are the last geckos that will be posted before Hamm.

There is still time to place a last minute order for Hamm, so let me know if you are interested in anything.

11/23/07 - Thirty-five new geckos were added to the available pages today. The new geckos include a Red-Eyed Enigma, an awesome Enigma Het RAPTOR, Bold Stripe Snows, RAPTORs, an APTOR, RAPTOR Hets, a Banded Eclipse, a Snow Het RAPTOR, Snow Bell Albinos, Giant Albinos, Blizzards, Tremper Albinos, and a couple Stripes.

The Hamm show is approaching quickly, but there is still time to place an order! Deb and I are very excited for our trip to Germany and look forward to seeing everyone there!

11/19/07 - I posted 125 new geckos to the available pages between updates over the last 2 days. The new geckos include an Enigma, RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, APTORs, Patternless Albinos, Blazing Blizzards, Super Snows, Bold Stripe Snows, a Snow Patternless Albino, Snow Tremper Albinos, a Snow Ghost, a Snow Blizzard, a Snow Albino Het RAPTOR, Blazing Blizzards, Tremper Albinos, a Red Stripe, Bell Sunglows, Blizzards, and Giant Albinos. I also posted a couple male Banded Knobtail Geckos, Nephrurus wheeleri. I am taking more photos today and tomorrow, and should have another update ready by the end of this week.
11/15/07 - I am working on taking photos of new available geckos. So far I have taken pictures of 75 new geckos, and I will continue taking photos today. When I am done I should have over 100 new geckos to post for sale in this update. Tomorrow I will start cropping photos, and plan to have them all posted over the weekend.

11/5/07 - Sixty new geckos were posted to the available pages today. The new ones include a Tremper Albino Engima het RAPTOR, a Red-Eyed Enigma, a male Banded Snow RAPTOR (with 2 solid red eyes), RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, APTORs, Giant Albinos, Super Hypo Tangerines, Snow Bell Albinos, Bell Albinos, Super Snows, Mack Snows, a Snow Patternless, Snow Tremper Albinos, Red Stripes, a Bold Stripe, a Blizzard, Bold Stripe Snows, and a Super Snow Bell Albino. I have lots of other leopard geckos that are ready to post for sale, and I will be working on taking photos of new ones this week. This past weekend was our last US reptile show of the year, so I will finally have more time to work on photos of new geckos. I plan to post 120-150 new geckos to my website over the next few weeks.

11/2/07 - This week I took pictures of 60 new available geckos that will be posted to the available pages. I was planning on posting them this week, but I am packing up for a reptile show this weekend and have run out of time before I have to leave. I will work on updating the website over the weekend, and will have the new geckos posted on Monday when I return. Sorry for the delay! There are some really cool geckos in this update, including a Solid-Eyed Mack Snow RAPTOR, Tremper Albino Enigma, Red-Eyed Enigma, Snow Bells, Snow Tremper Albinos, and a bunch of others.

I will be away for the weekend, but will respond to emails or call when I return.

10/27/07 - I was away from home for the last 4 days and now back home. I was in southern California (Santa Barbara County) supervising the installation of a drift fence to survey for California tiger salamanders (an endangered species). The project took longer than I expected, so I ended up being away for a day longer than I planned.

Today I posted 18 new geckos to the available pages. The new geckos include a Blizzard, Super Hypo Tangerines, Bold Stripes, Giant Albinos, Mack Snows, Super Snows, a Snow Tremper Albino, a RAPTOR, and some RAPTOR hets. I am planning on taking pictures of new geckos this week, and should have the new geckos posted within a week. I received a lot of emails while I was gone, and it will take me a couple days to get to all of them. Please be patient, and I will get back to you!

10/22/07 - I posted 21 new geckos to the available pages. The new geckos include a pair of Nephrurus amyae, RAPTORs, Super Snows, a Giant Super Snow, Snows het RAPTOR, a Super Hypo Tangerine, a Snow Bell, and some Tremper Albino females. I will have more geckos posted on October 26.

I will be away from Tuesday-Thursday this week. If you have an order please send us an email. When I return I will process requests in the order I received them.

10/18/07 - I have posted 85 new geckos to the available pages over the last few days. The new geckos include a Tremper Albino Enigma het RAPTOR, Red-eyed Enigmas, Enigmas het Bell Albino, RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, APTORs, Eclipses, Super Hypo Tangerines, Snows, Super Snows, Snow Albinos (Bell and Tremper), Snow Ghosts, Bold Stripe Snows, Snow Blizzards, and a Rainwater Albino. I also posted the first offering of our wild caught bloodline leopard geckos, both Eublepharis macularius macularius, and Eublepharis macularius fasciolatus. Click here to the see the available wild caught bloodline leopards.

I am still working on photos, and may be able to have some new geckos posted in the next day or two. The next major update will be posted on October 26.

I will be away this weekend, but will be back on Monday.

10/9/07 - I was away over the weekend at a reptile show in San Diego. Thanks to everyone that purchased geckos from us. I just got back late last night, and will be working on catching up on email today. Once I catch up on email and gecko care I will be working on taking pictures of new available geckos. I hope to have those pictures posted soon.

10/1/07 - I added 35 new geckos to the available pages over several updates I made over the past week. The new geckos include RAPTORs, APTORs, RAPTOR hets, Mack Snows, a Bell Albino, Giant RAPTOR hets, Super Snows, and Tremper Albinos. I expect to post a new batch of geckos around October 12.

Thanks to everyone that purchased geckos and snakes from us at the Sacramento Reptile Show last weekend! We will be vending at the IRBA show in San Diego next weekend and look forward to seeing everyone there.

9/21/07 - Thanks to everyone that purchased geckos from me in Hamm! It was nice to see everyone again, and I had a great time. I'll be back at the show in December. A lot of people have been asking, so I'm going to start taking orders for the December Hamm show now. A lot of people were surprised at the size of the geckos they received in Hamm. Many of these people put a 20 gram gecko on hold a couple months ago, and received it twice that size in Hamm. If you order early you can make sure that you get older geckos, and I'll keep feeding them well so they will be much bigger by the time I deliver them in December.

This week has been busy catching up on everything after being away, but I'm getting back to a normal routine. I'm currently working on taking pictures of new available geckos.

9/10/07 - I just added some new geckos to the available pages today. I have posted 140 new geckos to the available pages over the last 10 days. I will work on taking new photos for my website towards the end of next week.

The Hamm show is next weekend. I will be at this Hamm show myself. In addition to the pre-ordered geckos, I will be bringing geckos to sell at the Hamm show. I will be bringing some geckos that are pictured on my website, and others that are not. Let me know if you have any requests for ones I should bring. I am planning on bringing RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, Mack snows, super snows, giants, super hypo tangerine carrot tails, Bell hybinos and a few others. Be sure to stop by and see what I have. I will be at Bjorn Aye's table in Hamm. His table location will be listed in the program, but it should be in Row #5, Table 1. There is still time to place a last minute order for Hamm. Let me know if you are interested in any of the geckos on the available pages and we can work out the payment details.

Thanks to everyone who purchase geckos from us at the NARBC show last weekend in Anaheim. Unfortunately a $1500 female Enigma Het Bell was stolen from our table on Saturday around 3 PM. Everyone, please keep an eye out for this Enigma female if you see some unknown person selling an adult female Enigma (60-65 grams) on one of the classified sites. Who knows if the thief is a gecko person and would keep it as a breeder, or try to unload it for cash. This Enigma female is fairly distinctive (no two enigmas are alike). She had a solid pastel orange/yellow body, with a purple area on her head with some faint spots on the head and tail. A photo of her from the show is below. I have heard that at least one other person took a photo of her at the show, so if you have another photo, please send it to me. Please spread the word. Cash reward if it is recovered or returned.

9/6/07 - I am away from home at the NARBC reptile show in Anaheim. I will be back home late on Sunday night. I may have some email access while I am away, but I'm not sure.

There is still time to place an order for the Hamm shipment! I am shipping on Wednesday, and can get geckos into the shipment as late as Tuesday. If it isn't possible to pay in advance we can work it out so you can pay at the show.

9/1/07 - I posted 41 new geckos today, including RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, Super Hypo Tangerines, and Tremper Albinos. I am still taking photos, and will be posting another 50 new geckos in the next couple days.
8/31/07 - The first of the geckos in this website update are posted. Today I posted 25 geckos including Giants, Giant RAPTOR Hets, Mack Snows, Snow Bell Albinos, Snow Tremper Albinos, Snows het Tremper Albino, Bold Stripe Snows, Snow Patternless Albino, and a Super Snow Patternless. Tomorrow I will post more geckos. I have taken pictures of 92 geckos so far, and I have more photos to take in the next few days. Tomorrow I will be posting RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, Super Hypo Tangerines, and Tremper Albinos.

8/29/07 - In early August I went to a reptile show in Japan. Check out this page to see photos from the trip.

I am working on taking gecko photos this week, and I should have around 100 new geckos posted by the end of the weekend.

8/21/07 - I posted 66 new geckos to the available pages. The new geckos include Red-eyed Enigmas, RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, APTORs, Tremper Giants, Mack Super Snows, Bold Stripe Snows, Snow Ghosts, Super Hypo Tangerines (including some REALLY nice ones), Snow Bell Albinos, and Snow Patternless Albinos.

We have had great luck with our Enigmas this year and have hatched some truly spectacular geckos. Some of our Enigma females were bred to a Bell Sunglow male to produce some awesome tangerine Enigmas. I have posted pictures of some of offspring from that pairing (including the pictures posted below on 6/22/07), but here is a new one that is developing some amazing colors. His colors are intensifying and he should be just as nice as the Enigma that is posted on our homepage. This male is for sale!

We also bred Enigma with a Mack Snow Bell and hatched several beautiful Red-eyed Mack Snow Enigmas.

This was the first one to hatch, and is now around 15 grams.

Closeup of his eye. It is a little different than other red eye enigmas, so it will be interesting to see what it looks like when he matures.

Red-eyed Snow Enigma #3 shortly after hatching

We bred this non-albino Enigma female to a RAPTOR, and were very happy to find our first Tremper Albino Het RAPTOR Enigma in the incubator.

These photos are of the largest of our Tremper Albino Enigmas Het RAPTOR.

This one is around 15 grams in this photo, and has changed a lot since it hatched. When it first hatched the bands were very faint and hard to distinguish. Tremper Albino Enigmas don't produce black pigments like the Bell Albino Enigmas, but they eyes are definitely redder than a normal Tremper albino. I will post photos of our other Tremper Enigmas when they get a little larger. I can't wait to hatch an Enigma RAPTOR!

A nice SHT that hatched this year. Selective breeding is a powerful force!

8/15/07 - We are headed to the Daytona Reptile Expo this weekend. We are excited to see all our friends again.

I took photos of 60+ available geckos last week, but got too busy with gecko care to crop and post the photos before Daytona. I will be working it over the weekend, and should have them up early next week when we return.

8/7/07 - I am back home from Japan. I had a great trip! Thanks to everyone that purchased geckos at the Japan Reptiles Show.

I am working on answering all the email that I received over the last week, but it will likely take me a few days to answer them all. Please be patient, and I will get back to you!

7/28/07 - The leopard gecko gods have been good to us! We have had great luck with some of our projects and have hatched some really spectacular new morphs. The most exciting ones so far include Tremper albino enigmas (het RAPTOR), Mack Snow RAPTORs, Red-eyed Mack Snow Enigmas (Bell Albinos), Red-eyed enigmas (Bell Albino), jungle Mack snow albinos het RAPTOR, and Mack Super Snow Patternless Albinos. Most of these just hatched in the last few weeks, but I will post some photos once they get a little bigger.

I am travelling to a reptile show in Japan this week, and will be away from August 1-7. I will be posting new geckos to my website when I get back.

I posted 6 pastel ball pythons to the Available Ball Python Page. Yes, we also breed pythons!

7/18/07 - Seventy four new geckos were posted today. The new geckos include Enigmas, RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, Eclipses, a Snow Patternless Albino, Mack Snows, Tremper Giants, Patternless Albinos, Mack Snow Tremper Albinos, Snows het RAPTOR, Hypo Tangerines, Bell Albinos, Snow Bells, Snow Ghosts, and Blazing Blizzards.

I will be posting more geckos for sale every 1-2 weeks as the hatchlings grow to sellable size (around 20 grams).

7/2/07 - I am back from my vacation. I received a lot of email while I was away, and will respond to all the emails over the next day or two.

I added 60 new geckos to the available pages. The new geckos include Super Hypo Tangerines, Raptor Hets, some APTORs, Blazing Blizzards, Bell Albinos, Mack Snows and Super Snows, a Super Snow Patternless and Mack Snow Patternless, and some Tremper Giant Albinos. I will be posting more geckos for sale soon.

I am now taking orders for the Hamm show and Japan Reptile Show. See the home page for links to the details of these shipments. I will have lots of geckos to post before the show, and new geckos will be added every 1-2 weeks as they become sexable. Let me know if you are looking for something in particular so I know what morphs to focus on when taking pictures.

I finally got a chance to do some housekeeping on our website. You will see a new gecko in our logo on the homepage (a Red-Eyed Enigma), and I rearranged the buttons on the available page. Hopefully this change will make the available pages easier to navigate.

Here are some more Red-Eyed Enigma photos. This one hatched from breeding Snow Bell x Enigma. It isn't a snow, but has some really cool patterning. I will have some Red-Eyed Enigmas available for sale soon.

6/22/07 - Forty new geckos were added to the available pages. The new geckos include a pair or Nephrurus amyae, RAPTORs, RAPTOR hets, CHCHTJ Giants het RAPTOR , Bell Sunglows, Snow Bells, a really nice white snow het Tremper, and a couple Bell albinos. These are the largest of the 2007 babies, and more will be posted as they become sexable size. I will be out of town from Thursday through July 2, but will be posting a new batch of geckos to the available pages when I return on July 2. I have more adult 2006 hatched geckos to post for sale, and I plan on putting them up in that update. I will start taking orders for September Hamm show and the Japan show on July 1. I may not be able to access my email until July 2, but I will take reservations in the order the emails were received. If you are placing an order for Hamm or the Japan show, do not worry if you don't see exactly what you are looking for on July 1. I have a lot of spectacular geckos growing up now, and will be posting new geckos to my website each week.

We have had a lot of exciting things hatching here. We have hatched some spectacular leopard geckos so far this year including Red-eyed Enigmas, Super Snow Bells, Super Snow Rainwater Patternless Albinos (pinkish white with black eyes), Super Snow Tremper Albinos, RAPTORs, Snow Patternless Albinos, and a lot of others!

Enigmas are so cool! It seems like every one is different. This is a really special morph. Here are updated photos of our first Enigma to hatch. You can see his baby pictures below (5/7/07 entry). This is the non-albino form. You can see the non-albino eye is a different color, so when you combine it with albino the eye color is brighter.

Here is the first Red-Eye Enigma we hatched this year. The color is amazing! Check out the tail spots. He is expressing Bell albino, but the spots are just as dark as a normal. His eyes are super red! Who knows what will happen when this is combined with the Tremper or Rainwater strains, but it should be spectacular.

Our Nephrurus amyae are doing well this year. I never get tired of seeing this sight! I posted one pair to the available pages, and we will have more available soon.

And we just hatched our first amyae of the year. I never get tired of that sight as well!

6/19/07 - Special opportunity for customers in Asia! I will be attending the Japan Reptile Expo on August 4 and 5 in Shizuoka, Japan (about an hour from Tokyo). I should have the rest of the details soon. I will be taking pre-orders soon, and I will be bringing geckos to sell at the show. I encourage pre-orders, as I won't be able to bring a full selection of all our morphs to the show. Send me an email for more information.

I will update the website soon! This is always a busy time of the year, with lots of eggs being laid and lots of babies hatching.

6/12/07 - Wow, I can't believe it is the middle of June already! We have been super busy with lots of eggs being laid and lots of babies hatching. I will be updating my website with new geckos soon. I have some 2006 hatched geckos to post for sale, and will also post the first of the 2007 babies.

I finally updated our "About Us" page. Check it out on the link above.

5/7/07 - I added 60 new geckos to the available pages today. The new geckos include super hypo tangerines, Mack snows, Bell albino Mack snows, RAPTOR and APTOR hets, an APTOR, red stripes, and some Bell Sunglows. Most of these are ready to breed now. The 2007 babies have started hatching, and we already have some beauties!

Our first Enigma hatched a few days ago. The Enigma gene is a new dominant morph that was first released in 2006. Our first clutch from Enigma x Bell Sunglow turned out to be two normal Bell albinos. That was a nice surprise to find out that one of our females is het Bell albino....but hey, give me an Enigma in the first clutch! Oh well... The second clutch turned out to be one normal Bell albino and one non-albino Enigma. Hopefully the gecko gods will give us a red-eyed Enigma in the next clutch (1 in 4 chance). Here are some pictures of our first Enigma baby. He should look a lot cooler as he ages.

The Enigmas are quite unique! I really think they have great potential for producing some spectacular new combination morphs. They are colorful, and the colors are often all mixed around (check out the one pictured below). The Enigma gene changes the colors to be more pastel-ish, usually with some beautiful pastel yellows and lavender. They should look even better as more tangerine color is bred into them. Most of the Enigmas I have seen only have a few random spots, so there seems to be a hypo aspect to the Engima gene. But what is especially interesting about the Engimas is that when combined with the Bell albino gene, the resulting gecko (a Bell albino Enigma) has BRIGHT red eyes (from the albino gene), but has black spots (like a non-albino)! That does not make sense! Apparently the Enigma gene only allows the albino gene to be expressed in the eye. Check out the photos and you can see that normal Engimas have an amber yellow/browish colored eye. Since the base color of the Enigma eye is different, the albino Enigma eye is a different color than a normal albino. It will be very interesting to see what a Tremper albino Engima and Rainwater albino Enigma look like, and if the Enigma gene has similar effects on those albino strains. Ahhhh, leopard gecko genetics...complex morphs are always a lot of fun!

Here are some pictures of some of our breeders:

Orange, lavender, yellow, and a few random spots...very cool! How do you describe that pattern? :)

4/12/07 - Two pairs of Nephrurus amyae were added to the available pages today.

4/11/07 - Fifty-four new geckos were added to the available pages today. The new geckos
